How to Play Neighbours

Neighbours is a tile-based puzzle where you need to carefully build chains of adjacent tiles. Each tile shares either the same color or shape as the previous one in the chain, but not both. Your strategic choices in building longer chains determine your score.

Scoring System

The scoring system in Neighbours is very simple. For each chain of tiles you create, you score the square of the chain’s length. This means a chain of 2 tiles earns 4 points, a chain of 3 tiles gives 9 points, and a chain of 4 tiles results in 16 points. The longer the chain, the greater the score boost.

Plan Your Moves

Strategy plays a big role in Neighbours. Look ahead and plan your chains to ensure they reach maximum length. While it’s tempting to score quickly, it’s often better to wait and build longer chains for higher rewards. Timing and planning are key to achieving the best score.

Maximize Your Score

To get the highest score possible, focus on creating long chains and avoid breaking them prematurely. Since each tile in the chain must either share the same color or shape as the previous one, think carefully about each move. The longer your chain, the higher the potential score boost!
